Why I Do What I Do

This image prettty much sums up education for me. Please excuse the cliche, but a young child's mind is like a sponge. We, as educators, need to effectively harness and manage the inquisitive nature of young children. I am allergic to negativity, I believe everyone can learn something fom anyone. All of the words and phrases are straight from my philosophy of education.

  1. Doug,

How great was this site? I love it! There is defiantly some truth behind "a picture says a thousand words!" The creation you made is great! I never thought I would be able to think of something, but as soon as I sat down to create my WDYDWYD the thoughts were rolling. I love the idea you had about a childs mind as a sponge (Dr. Hall always said that)and as I work in the schools everyday I see how true that it. They say when a child is learning to talk they hear and repeat everything, but they never loose that ability! They are totally sponges and when they want to wring out the excess information....What a melt down, or sense of knowledge base you will learn all about in 5 seconds! Great ideas!
